Schwartz received his bachelor’s in anthropology and history and master’s degree in American history from the University of Pennsylvania. Schwartz was given a History Preservation Award by the Historic Preservation Commission of the City of Las Vegas. In recognition of his role in promoting the preservation of Las Vegas History, in 2021 Dr. He has also served on various campus committees, including chairing the University Promotion and Tenure Committee. In this role from 2001 to 2018, he was responsible for administering the Center’s Eadington Faculty Fellowship program, managing the growth of the Gaming Collection, and serving as publisher of the interdisciplinary UNLV Gaming Press. Prior to serving as associate vice provost, Schwartz was director of the Center for Gaming Research within University Libraries. In addition to his current role as UNLV’s Ombuds, he is also an affiliate professor in the Department of History.įrom 2019 to May 2021, Schwartz served as Associate Vice Provost of Faculty Affairs, where he provided support around faculty tenure and promotion, shared governance, and related issues.
